HYDRAREDOX IBERIA PARTICIPATES IN THE OPEN DAY ORGANIZED BY CIEMAT
Madrid, 8 May 2019
On May 8, HydraRedox Iberia participated in a Conference on renewable energy storage organized by CIEMAT. There were two panels, the first one moderated by Mercedes Ballesteros with the participation of IDAE, CIC energiGUNE, CIEMAT, Inter-Platforms Storage Group and REE.
In the second panel, moderated by Cayetano Hernández, the speakers presented their company activities, Acciona, Ampere Energy, Endesa, Iberdrola and Fertiberia in the field of storage with renewable energy.
Energy storage has a strategic value and will be a key factor in the energy transition in order to achieve the 2030 renewable energy penetration targets.
The Spanish energy mix must adapt to the objectives of the European Union, and specifically those indicated in the National Comprehensive Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), whose objective is to reach a renewable energy quota of 35%. That quota involves installing 50,000 MW of new renewable power, at an average of 5000 MW per year. Spain will have new large solar and wind plants during the next few years that will become important testing facilities for applications in energy storage. New developments will be implemented in these plants to better manage these technologies.
The CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas) is a public research body assigned to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities under the General Secretariat for Scientific Policy Coordination, focusing on energy and environment and the technologies related to them. It has offices in several different regions of Spain, and its activity is structured around projects which form a bridge between R&D&I and social interest goals.
